“Dubious Characters In The MDC,” Chamisa Warned

Prominent Zimbabwean journalist and documentary filmmaker, Hopewell Chin’ono has claimed that there are government agents planted within the opposition MDC led by Nelson Chamisa.

He warned the youthful leader to be careful saying that the alleged agents were within the party even during the time of the party founding member, Morgan Tsvangirai. Posting on Twitter, Chin’ono said:

When Tsvangirai became Prime Minister, he was surrounded by dubious characters. After interviewing him for @itvnews, I told him that James Maridadi was a plant! He laughed it off in the presence of Alex Magaisa @Wamagaisa. Years later, I was proved right! @nelsonchamisa👀

Some party supporters have often said that the former Secretary-General of the party, Douglas Mwonzora, who has been claiming that ZANU PF was infiltrating the party, was one of the agents with some saying “everyone” in the party, including Nelson Chamisa, was a ZANU PF mole.

Other prominent MDC officials who have been labelled ZANU PF agents include, Welshman Ncube (when he left MDC in 2013), Tendai Biti and Jacob Mafume (when they formed MDC Renewal) and Nelson Chamisa (following the Congress he lost to Mwonzora).

Some analysts have said that whilst there are real planted agents within the party, some politicians were using the tag on their political opponents to gain mileage.
