ZIFA Putting Together Lucrative Financial Package For Warriors Coach

The Zimbabwe Football Association is reportedly putting together a lucrative financial deal for the next Warriors substantive coach, a report claims.

According to NewsDay, ZIFA plans to pay the coach a percentage of the qualification bonus in addition to his monthly salary. The publication’s source is quoted as saying:

There are plans to find innovative ways that will help the association to meet the coach’s salary and other expenses and to pay the coach a certain percentage of the qualification bonus is one of the ways the association is looking at.

For instance, if the qualification bonus for the 2021 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in Cameroon is US$400 000 and the coach gets 15 % of it after qualifying the team in addition to a monthly salary, it will be a huge paycheque.

ZIFA is looking for a substantive coach to replace Sunday Chidzambga who resigned in July this year, soon after an unsuccessful 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

Reports indicate that besides interim coach Joey Antipas, who tenure ends at the end of this month, Serbian coach Milutin Sredojevic, also known as Micho, has applied for the Warriors job.
