Property worth nearly $10 million is reported to have been destroyed by fire in Bulawayo City between January and October.
The second-largest city in the country recorded 419 fire incidents from since in ten months with the January fuel protests and power cuts hugely contributing to the high number of properties destroyed by fire.
The local government authority’s monthly Fire and Ambulance report released early this month blamed discarded lit materials and arson for most of the fire incidents.
This is the year in which PHD Ministries leader, Walter Magaya’s hotel in Waterfalls also caught fire whose cause is unknown.
