Zim Still Getting Off-peak Power From Eskom - Chasi

Energy and Power Development Minister Fortune Chasi on Tuesday said South Africa’s power utility, Eskom, has continued to supply Zimbabwe with electricity despite the challenges it is currently facing.

Chasi revealed this while addressing a post-cabinet media briefing in Harare on Tuesday. He said:

Although the South Africans are facing challenges in the power sector they have continued to supply us with power.

… should there be challenges in that area I am sure our South Africa brothers and sisters will communicate that to us that they are unable (to continue supplying power) but as of now we have not received such communication and we are continuing to receiving power in terms of the undertakings that were made in our contract with them.

Eskom has been implementing load shedding for several days due to loss of capacity blamed on flooding in some parts of the country.
