Gwanda Touts Beat Up ZUPCO Bus Driver

A group of touts and cross border transport operators were arrested for an alleged assault involving a Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO) bus driver in Gwanda.

The group of touts appeared before Gwanda magistrate, Nomagugu Sibanda, facing public violence charges.

They were granted $300 bail each and ordered to stay at their given addresses, not interfere with State witnesses and to report once every Friday at police stations near them.

On December 4 this year, the gang allegedly assaulted the ZUPCO driver, Justice Sanya, who was parked at Engen Garage in Gwanda and loading passengers en route to Beitbridge.

They reportedly dragged from the bus into the Gwanda- Beitbridge Highway and further assaulted him.
