17 Zimbabweans escaped death by a whisker when the bus they were travelling in caught fire in South Africa this morning, the Herald Reports.
The bus, which belongs to Apaco coaches and Chamvari tours was travelling from Capetown to Zimbabwe when it caught fire on the N1 North highway just close to the William Nicol off-ramp according to the publication.
The bus reportedly caught fire after a front tire burst according to the company:
The bus driver then stopped the bus and as he alighted, the smoke spread to the rest of the vehicle. This resulted in passengers rushing to get off, and in getting injured in the process.
