2 Harare Residents Sue The Govt For Demolishing Their Homes
2 Harare residents have approached the High Court seeking damages in excess of 1 Million from the government after they were evicted from Allington farm in 2016 and their homes destroyed the daily news reports.
The 2 Samson Chiwakata and Marlon Chiwakata, approached the court on 2 separate occasions are demanding US$58 661,63 and US$37 596,72, respectively and an additional $500 000 each for pain and suffering.
According to the publication, one of the plaintiffs, Samson said:
The demolition of the plaintiff’s property was done without a court order to that effect and no notice was given to the plaintiff as required by law. As a result of this illegal act by the defendants, the plaintiff suffered loss in the sum of US$58 661,63 being the cost of constructing the house.
