Reason Why Mushekwi Avoided Caps United Bus Unveiling Ceremony Revealed

Former Warriors striker Nyasha Mushekwi said he avoided the unveiling ceremony of a luxurious 45-seater bus he donated to Caps United because he did not want to steal the limelight and become the focus of attention.

Mushekwi, instead sent his sister, brothers and grandmother to attend the ceremony that was held at the National Sports Stadium, Caps United’s home ground, on Tuesday. Said Mushekwi:

If I had come there, everyone would be wanting to talk to me, the cameras would be on me and not the bus and I thought that wasn’t right.

This wasn’t about me, but about God delivering something special to my old club and it was good that I wasn’t there when the bus was presented.

But my family was there, my sister was there, she represented me well, and my brothers and grandmother were also there.

The brand new bus reportedly cost over US$200 000 including shipment from the Far East.

Mushekwi donated the bus to the Green Machine as a “thank you” gesture following the club’s contribution in moulding him into a professional footballer.
