Consumers Plead With POTRAZ To Look Into Prices Of Data Bundles
Consumers have urged the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (POTRAZ) to address the issue of data prices which are continuously going up.
Their concern comes when all telecommunications companies have been raising the prices of data bundles to an extent that even the working is now struggling to buy data bundles on a regular basis as they used to do.
Speaking to the Chronicle, Consumer Rights Association spokesperson Mr Effie Ncube said that the government has to intervene since ICTs are a fundamental pillar to every economy. He said:
The data prices are exorbitant and unaffordable even by the working class in Zimbabwe, and we have frequently called on the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) and the Government to look into the cost structure of data with a view to making sure it is affordable to the rest of the population in the country.
Players in the ICT sector, like those in other sectors, have been citing the inflationary economy in the country as the factor compelling them to review their charges upwards.
