"ED's Spokesperson Stole US$228K From PSMAS, Equally To Blame For The Health Crisis," Chin'ono

Zimbabwean journalist and filmmaker, Hopewell Chin’ono has said that George Charamba, the spokesperson of President Emmerson Mnangagwa is equally to blame for the collapse of the health delivery system in the country.

Charamba made headlines some time ago when he was reportedly given US$228 000 by Premier Service Medical Aid Society (PSMAS) merely for attending board meetings.

Chin’ono’s remarks come when Charamba has claimed that striking doctors are being paid by foreign embassies for the industrial action which started on the 3rd of September.

Posting on Twitter, Chin’ono said that Charamba has no right to criticise doctors on strike because of the role he played in bringing the health sector down. He said:

Doctors should tell George Charamba @Jamwanda2 that they don’t need Americans to know that civil servants are dying without treatment because he stole US$228000 from @PSMASZim!

Citizens should not allow people like Charamba to abuse them when he is the source of patients dying!!

The situation in public health institutions is deplorable, a situation that left patients stranded. Some of the patients have resorted to traditional healers, mission hospitals and private hospitals.

Mission hospitals have already indicated that they are now overwhelmed whilst patients are complaining about the charges in private medical institutions.
