"Middlemen" Demand US$2 000 From Aspiring Nurses

Aspiring nurses were being forced to pay as much as US$2 000 to “recruiting agents” to get a place to be trained at different government-run health institutions across the country before the e-recruiting system was introduced.

This was said by Health Minister Obadiah Moyo during the question and answer session in the National Assembly on Wednesday. Said Moyo:

Yes, corruption was there before we introduced the e-recruiting system. Then, recruits were forced to pay US$2 000 to fake agents. We do not have agents.

Do not be cheated. We have to fight corruption.

Zengeza West MP Job Sikhala, however, would have none of that and went on to accuse Moyo of corruption.
