ZHDA: Fired Doctors Start To Leave The Country

The Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association (ZHDA) says some doctors have already left the country following their dismissal from the public service by the government.

In a statement on Twitter, ZHDA castigated the Ministry of Health for its “ridiculous and egotistical talks” of replacing the fired doctors. The statement reads:

The firing of doctors and the subsequent ridiculous and egotistical talks of replacing our members seem to be the best the Ministry of Health and Child Care has to offer to date.

The avoidable exodus of Doctors has already begun and one can only imagine what that will mean for our fellow countrymen who cannot fly to China for treatment.

For every day that passes, more lives are being lost, yet we have a competent crop of reputable and world-class Doctors, who are more than willing to go back to work at this very moment, to save lives.

The government has already fired 435 doctors, having found them guilty of absenteeism.

The doctors had stopped coming to work due to incapacitation, as they demanded improved salaries and better working conditions.
