Vice President Retired General, Constantino Chiwenga, this Tuesday attended the 42nd Cabinet meeting after resuming his duties this Monday.

Chiwenga returned on Saturday from China where he was receiving medical treatment for the past four months. Upon his arrival, he declared himself fit for office saying that he had recovered from the undisclosed illness.

Meanwhile, there are some who believe that Chiwenga’s return from China was only necessitated by the need for him to safeguard his VP post amidst reports that a replacement was being sought for since Chiwenga was now incapacitated to hold public office.

Chiwenga has seldom appeared in the public since the beginning of this year as he has been in and out of foreign hospitals, India, South Africa and China where he was being treated of suspected poisoning.

Addressing Cabinet ministers, Chiwenga acknowledged the support he received from President Emmerson Mnangagwa that ensured his full recovery, further calling for unity of purpose in support of Mnangagwa’s vision for economic growth and recovery.
