The Warriors have got their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations off the ground after beating Zambia 2-1 at the Heroes Stadium in Lusaka on Tuesday night.
Khama Billiat scored the first goal after 10 minutes before Zambia equalised in the first half. Billiat would go on to break Zambian supporters’ hearts when he netted his second of the match in the second-half following a swift counterattack involving captain Knowledge Musona.
This was Zimbabwe’s first win in the qualifiers following a drab 0-0 draw with Botswana on Friday last week. The Warriors are now second in Group H with 4 points from 2 games, 2 points behind leaders Algeria who are on 6 points.
Botswana is on 3rd position with a solitary point while Zambia props up the group with no point after losing 5-0 to Algeria and 2-1 to Zimbabwe.
