Mat North Provincial Chief's Council Remove Chief Ndiweni From His Post - Report
An article by the Sunday News is claiming that Matabeleland Provincial Chief’s Council (PCC) has removed controversial Ntabazintuna Chief from his post.
Earlier on a story was circulating that some chiefs wanted Chief Ndiweni gone. The chief who is a feisty Mnangagwa critic was a few months ago sentenced to 18 months in prison after he was convicted of destroying his subjects’ property a case Chief Ndiweni called political because he claims had exposed Obert Mpofu for stealing his father Chief Khanyisa’s cattle.
The PCC is, however, basing its decision on a technicality that Chief Ndiweni is not the rightful heir to the chieftainship because his elder brother is alive according to the Sunday News.
A source that spoke to the publication said:
His appointment has always been controversial and so was his installation. His family is divided on the issue but as per tradition he is not a chief because he is not the first born and his elder brother is still alive and he went to court to fight for the throne.
