President Emmerson Mnangagwa arrived in Bulawayo on Thursday night ahead of of the Lupane State University (LSU) graduation ceremony.
President Mnangagwa will also attend the 78th Urban Councils’ Association of Zimbabwe (UCAZ) annual conference in the city on Friday.
He was welcomed on arrival at Joshua Mqabuko International Airport by senior government officials who included Local Government Minister July Moyo and Bulawayo Mayor Councillor Solomon Mguni.
The Lupane graduation ceremony will be held at the LSU in Lupane, Matabeleland North while the UCAZ annual conference is being held at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo.
The UCAZ conference started on Wednesday and ends on Saturday. Participants include Government officials, mayors, town clerks, councillors and other council management officials.
UCAZ president, who is also Gweru Mayor, Josiah Makombe (MDC Alliance), said his association wants to meet President Mnangagwa to inform him on some of pressing issues affecting urban councils.
