ZESA's Eskom Debt Now At $21.76 Million

Eskom has described ZESA as its biggest debtors in the region as the ZESA Eskom debt clocks $21.76 Million. This was revealed in South Africa’s parliament according to Sunday News.

According to the publication:

South Africa Public Enterprise Minister Pravin Gordarn told the country’s parliament last week that Zesa was among Eskom’s biggest debtors in the region. He said Zesa was among the three foreign state-owned power utilities that owe Eskom R632m in outstanding payments. Minister Gordan said Zesa owes Eskom R322m, Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) owes R221m and Zambian state-owned power company Zesco owes R89m.

ZESA during 2019’s winter period paid Eskom $10 000 000 and resumed importing electricity from them but reportedly defaulted on the payments according to the publication.
