A herdboy was dragged to court by his baby-mama over the paternity of a four-year-old child whom the woman claims was sired by the cattle-herder.
Abisha Muwando told Mutare magistrate Prisca Tendai Manhibi on Wednesday that the child is not his since her former wife, Vimbai Mupikata, told him that she was taking the child to its real father after they separated in 2017. He said:
I was shocked when I received the summons Your Worship. We were happily married when she suddenly packed her bags and left after telling me that the child was not mine and that she was going to the real father.
How then am I supposed to believe that the child who was not my last year, is now mine?
However, Mupikata insisted that Muwando was the father of the child as they had slept together without protection during the subsistence of their marriage.
The court ordered the pair to go for DNA tests and adjourned the matter to a later date for the maintenance matter ruling.
