Participation Of UK-Based Warriors Duo In AFCON Qualifiers In Suspense

The participation of England-based Warriors duo, Macauley Bonne and Adam Chicksen in the national 2021 Total Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier remains uncertain as they are yet to secure Zimbabwean passports.

ZBC News reports that it was previously told that the passports would be ready on Tuesday but nothing has materialised until Thursday.

Speaking to ZBC News, Warriors Team Manager, Wellington Mpandare, however, confirmed that all the paperwork was in place and the passports are expected to be ready this Friday. Mpandare said:

We are quite happy with the assistance we are getting from the passport office everything has been smooth from the onset and after processing all the required papers I am positive the travel documents will be in our hands tomorrow and the players will be eligible to play in our future assignments.

The 24-year-old Bonne who is eligible to play for England has expressed to play for Zimbabwe, his parents’ country and has expressed his disappointment for failing to play at this year’s AFCON Finals edition held in Egypt after ZIFA failed to secure him a Zimbabwean passport.
