Presidential Scholarship Scheme Should Be Used At Local Universities - Parly

During the ongoing pre-budget seminar an MDC Alliance MP questioned why the govt is paying scarce forex to foreign universities while the universities back home are equally good and in need of funding and capital injection.

The Kadoma Central MP, Muchineripi Chinyanganya, said:

We have more universities locally. What is the reason then, to pay our hard-earned foreign currency, which we do not have, to foreign universities neglecting our own tertiary institutions? That money should be channelled to- wards our tertiary institutions.

The Presidential scholarship was pioneered by the late president Robert Mugabe who would sponsor scores of students to go and learn mostly at South African Universities.
