Mpilo Hospital Still Waiting For Technicians To Install Batteries On The Radiotherapy Machine One Year Later

Bulawayo’s largest public hospital since one year ago has been failing to administer radiotherapy on cancer patients The Chronicle reports. This was mainly due to the fact that when the machine packed up last year, UPS batteries were supposed to be installed on it and they haven’t been installed 12 months later.

This was revealed by Mpilo clinical director Dr Solwayo Ngwenya who said:

We are waiting for technicians from South Africa to connect the UPS batteries so that we resume radiotherapy services.

According to Dr Ngwenya, right now the hospital is only offering chemotherapy and when the machine packed up last year there were 150 patients who were on radiotherapy.
