Zim Fail To Meet 2019 Gold Production Target - Report

Zimbabwe has failed to meet the 2019 gold production target, The Zimbabwean reports. According to Zimbabwe Miners Federation spokesman Dosman Mangisi, most miners were affected by the changes in the thresholds and many other factors also played a role in the low production.

The Mines Deputy Minister echoed Mr Mangisi’s sentiments while speaking to the Herald when he said:

Currently, we are not on course to meet the gold target; what we are recording is not what we were expecting.

We have several issue like power outages and complaints from miners, especially small scale miners, that we never dealt with diligently and I think that contributed to the drastic fall in gold production. I think going forward we might need to have dedicated power lines to mines.
The targeted gold production for this year had been set at 40 tonnes but its clear gold producers are nowhere near meeting that target as of this month.
