"It's Not Going To Be Business As Usual," ZANU PF Speaks On Sanctions Advocates

The ruling ZANU PF is considering enacting laws that will ban advocating for sanctions on the country by Zimbabwean nationals.

Speaking on the sidelines of a government-organised anti-sanctions march in Harare on Friday, ZANU PF party Chief Whip, Pupurayi Togarepi, said:

You will see from now going forward that those who go out looking for sanctions, talking to foreign forces against the people of Zimbabwe, asking for sanctions to be imposed on our people, as parliamentarians we will ensure we take a stance against them.

It is not going to be business as usual.

His remarks come as there are reports that opposition MDC leaders including Nelson Chamisa and Tendai Biti, went to the USA to beg that country for the extension of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe two decades ago.

Meanwhile, the opposition MDC is saying that the government is bringing suffering upon itself, by failing to respect human rights. The party also argues that the agony which the government is inflicting on the masses outweighs, by far, the suffering brought on them by sanctions.
