Mliswa Chides Govt For Wasting Money On American PR Firms
Outspoken Member Of Parliament for Norton Constituency, Temba Mliswa (Independent), says the government of Zimbabwe should not continue wasting millions of dollars on useless lobbying firms in the United States of America.
Mliswa made the remarks in Parliament last week where he argued that the money being given to the Public Relations firms should be channelled towards the provision of health to citizens. He said:
They have embassies here but the government has spent US$2 million hiring a PR person in America to network with embassies instead of us putting that money into very important sectors and so forth.
FeedbackWe have hospitals which do not have medicines, no proper bedding and where nurses are not well remunerated but we are paying a PR person to go and convince the Americans that the sanctions must go.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has so far hired two top American reputation management firms for over US$2 million to lobby President Donald J Trump’s administration to scrap economic measures imposed against Zimbabwe’s ruling elites.
