All-female Immigration Officers' Team Restores Order At Beitbridge

The Department of Immigration this Tuesday launched an operation being managed by female officers only, code-named “Good Morning Madam Immigration Officer”.

The operation is targeting illegal immigrants, touts, child and human smugglers among other crimes at Beitbridge Border Post. Assistant Regional Immigration Officer (ARIO) in-charge said:

Our officers managed to uplift eight passports for irregular movements and the owners were instructed to pay fines.

In addition, 30 arrests were effected on those who contravened various sections of the Immigration Act (e.g. noncompliance, entry by evasion and not possessing travel documents). The arrested were escorted to the police post to pay fines.

The team has 14 members and is led by Memory Mugwagwa. 38 cars were reportedly turned away today at the port of entry for carrying undocumented passengers.
