"Their Masks Will Come Off," Human Rights Activist Speaks On Abductors

Tatenda Mombeyarara, Zimbabwe democracy and human rights activist who sustained a broken leg, a fractured hand, damaged kidneys, bruises all over his body and burnt skin after his abductors poured chemicals on him has said that his kidnappers will pay a price for their deeds.

Posting on Twitter this Friday, Mombeyarara said:

The rabid dogs who tortured me and others will face justice someday. Their masks will come off. Had to endure another surgery to save my limbs.

Mombeyarara who is currently in a local hospital where he is recovering was abducted on the 14th of August, days before the opposition MDC’s 16 August demonstration that was later blocked by the State.

Whilst analysts argue that the abduction and others which later followed were being sanctioned by the state in a bid to silence government critics, the government denies the allegations saying the abductions were either being faked or a third force was kidnapping people to tarnish the image of the state.
