A 77-year-old Harare man, Oswell Nduma Gwanzura has been arrested for allegedly defrauding home seekers of US$11 340 and $34 510 in land fraud.
It is alleged that Gwanzura, Solomon Mujuru, Shingirirai, Vaduku Forum, Civil Servants Housing and Devine Housing co-operatives chaired by Gwanzura, Joicy Chirodza, Charles Humboto, Nelson Mandizvidza and Edward Muzeza formed Goromonzi Housing Co-operative Consortium in 2013.
The Consortium is said to have later allocated home seekers a piece of land that belonged to the ZB Bank and Landela Safari as per the High Court order of 2015.
Gwanzura is alleged to have misrepresented to other members that the Ministery of Local Government had already transferred the land into their name.
The State further alleges that as a result of such misrepresentation, complainants who were paying US$200 joining fee and US$25 monthly subscription in cash or transfers into Solomon Mujuru Co-operative’s ZB bank account eventually suffered a total prejudice of US$11 340 and $34 5100 and nothing was recovered.
