Police Release Chibwe After 5 Hours' Meeting Over Helmets - Report

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) on Monday held one Mitchel Chibwe for about 5 hours in relation to the discovery of 210 police helmets found at Robinson House on Sunday.

In a post on Twitter, Kudzai Rangarirai said he and his client (Mitchel Chibwe), had a cordial meeting and police released the latter without any charge. Wrote Rangarirai:

Leaving Central Police now with my client Mitchel Chibwe. We had a meeting with Law and Order team in connection with 210 police helmets found at Robinson House.

The meeting was cordial but too long. We started at 14:30. Mr Chibwe has not been charged and is heading home now.

Police on Sunday said that they had found police helmets and some which are thought to belong to Harare municipal police stashed in the basement at Robson House in Harare.

Chibwe, a businessman, reportedly bought the old police helmets at an auction intending to use them at his security company.
