ZIMRA Dragged To Court For Impounding Somali National's Truck
Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has been taken to court by a Somali national, Mahomed A Ahmed after they impounded his vehicle.
It is alleged that ZIMRA impounded the vehicle arguing that it was being used to smuggle goods. The taxman is still holding to the truck even after Ahmed submitted evidence suggesting that his car had been stolen in South Africa.
In his High Court application, Ahmed revealed that he visited the Zimbabwe Republic Police who conducted investigations and were convinced that the vehicle had not been used for criminal activities.
The police advised him to approach ZIMRA and he did. He added that he had lost business due to ZIMRA’s continued withholding of the truck.
