Residents Scramble For Gold In Gweru Suburb

Hundreds of Gweru residents scrambled for gold in Adelaide suburb, a residential area located to close to the Midlands State University (MSU).

There was a rush for the precious stone on Thursday morning in the suburb before police and military officers cordoned off the area. A Gweru resident who spoke to the Daily News said:

The people who might have made a killing are those who managed to pan for the gold throughout the night.

Most of us who came in the morning didn’t get a chance to enter the area because soldiers and the police had cordoned it off.

The Daily News says it was not able to verify if there was indeed gold deposits in the area. Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Gweru spokesperson, Joel Goko, could not comment on the development.
