Kirsty Coventry Tipped To Replace Mupfumira As Tourism Minister

Former world swimming record holder, Kirsty Coventry, is reported to be the favourite candidate to replace former Tourism Minister, Priscah Mupfumira who was recalled by President Emmerson Mnangagwa over corruption allegations.

Coventry who is currently the acting Tourism minister is said to be among a number of female candidates who submitted their CVs amid reports that President Emmerson Mnangagwa wants a female candidate to take over.

Zim Morning Post reports that a close source within the Office of the President and Cabinet revealed that the president thinks Coventry, who is doing well as the Minister of Sports, could also do well in marketing the country.

This comes as the country is on a re-engagement drive meant to mend relations with the international community, particularly the Western community after two decades of isolation.
