The US Bans Zimbabwean Diamonds

The United States yesterday reportedly issued a Withhold Release Order (WRO) for artisanal rough-cut diamonds from Marange Manicaland. This was due to the fact that they received reports that allege that they are produced under forced labour.

According to the statement, the action was based on information obtained and reviewed by CBP that indicates that the products were produced, in whole or in part, using forced labour.

Under the US law, it is illegal to imports goods that were produced in part or wholly under forced labour once information of the practice is received linking companies to the practice.
