MPs Receive Thousands Of Dollars Ahead Of SONA
Members of Parliament on Monday received ZW$17 000 each following reports that they were planning to protest over unpaid sitting allowances during the State of the Nation Address (SONA) by President Emmerson Mnangagwa this Tuesday.
President Mnangagwa will also officially open the Second session of the Ninth Parliament of Zimbabwe on the same day that he delivers SONA.
Some of the people who spoke to the Chronicle that said President Mnangagwa should address issues to do with cash shortages, forex exchange rates and the welfare of civil servants in his SONA.
Others urged the president to speak on issues of unemployment, devaluation of the local currency and galloping inflation.
