Govt Begins Preparations For 2022 National Census

The government of Zimbabwe has begun preparations for the national population census scheduled for 2022.

The census will cost $85 million, the Minister of Finance and Economic Development Mthuli Ncube revealed on Monday. He said:

We are going to be training something like 33-36 000 enumerators; it is a major undertaking which requires a lot of manpower.

The idea is that in August 2021 we have a trial run to make sure that the system will work and then finally on the midnight of 17th August 2022 the census officially starts.

Zimbabwe conducts a national census every ten years. The last census was held in 2012 showing that the country had 13 million people.
