"President Mnangagwa Is A Genuine & Committed Reformer"

Information Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa, has said that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is committed to implementing socio-economic and political reforms.

Officially opening the National Consultative Workshop to discuss the Zimbabwe Media Commission Bill, the Freedom of Information Bill and the Draft National Media and Film Industry Policy in Mutare on Thursday, Mutsvangwa said:

I want to give an assurance from the outset. President Mnangagwa is a genuine and committed reformer. This came from the briefing he gave me as he assigned me to my new ministerial task.

He wants Zimbabweans to fully enjoy the freedoms they entrenched in the 2013 Constitution of which he was one of the legal brains at the forefront.

Mutsvangwa also said that allowing the Gukurahundi issue to be debated publicly was one example to suggest that the president is committed to reforms.

Her remarks come when the international community has urged Mnangagwa to fully and swiftly implement the intended reforms so as to unlock possibilities of re-engagement.

Recently, the United States Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Brian Nichols remarked that his country’s policies on Sanctions and ZIDERA were dependant on Zimbabwe’s speed and sincerity in implementing the reforms.
