Govt Reviews Youth Policy, VTCs Curriculum

The government is mulling plans to up the curriculum at Youth Vocational Training Centres which is now considered archaic as far as modern trends are concerned.

Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture permanent secretary Thokozile Chitepo revealed this when she appeared before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Youth Sport, Arts and Culture. She said:

We are currently doing a review of the youth policy and by the end of October, we will have completed it and expect that it will be operational next year, and the amendments to the Youth Council Act is also on our agenda.

We will also introduce a youth volunteer strategy and the National Youth Service curriculum is going to be reviewed as well as coming up with a vocational training centres (VTCs) master plan that will outline infrastructure requirements, programmes to be done and staff requirements for VTCs.
