Diet And Cosmetic Surgery Influencers' Posts To Be Removed/Restricted On Facebook And Instagram

In a bid to sanitise the platform that has been flooded with post and sometimes misleading information about diet and cosmetic surgery posts, Facebook announced it will restrict influencer’s posts of such nature starting this week. Posts that promote certain weight loss programs and products, some feature deals and prices for cosmetic surgery will be removed completely on Instagram.

According to the standard Instagram is doing this to protect the younger generations from diet fads and putting pressure on themselves about altering their looks. Said the Instagram Public Policy Manager:

It’s not in the interest of the broader community to be exposed to these kind of branded ‘miracle’ claims. We’ve also gone a step further where young people are concerned, and the action that we’re taking for under 18s is that any branded promotion of weight loss products or undertaking of cosmetic procedures will be restricted so under 18s won’t see them.

Instagram is full of Influencers( People paid to promote a product) of different causes. The Diet and cosmetics influencers had gained popularity of late.
