Doctors protesting against the abduction of their union leader today said they are receiving death threats, from suspected state agents. In a petition handed over to parly today the doctors said:
As health professionals we are being threatened by security elements. Both nurses and doctors are regularly being told that resisting what the government offers them will result in their death. Evidence of the threats is available in audio and text messages.
This comes after the physicians staged a protest over a ZHDA union leader who was abducted on Saturday evening by suspected state agents. The government has said it is treating the doctor’s disappearance case as a missing person and not as an abduction as alleged by other doctors.
