MDC Receives $3.4 Million From Treasury

Treasury released $3.4 Million to MDC Newsday reports. The money released under the Political Parties Finance Act,  was released 2 weeks ago. MDC Treasurer General Senator David Coltart confirmed the development to the publication:

Yes, we have received the interim amount of $3,4 million. We are expecting more – about $1,9 million. The money is now worth a fraction of what it did when it should have been paid. There is no doubt the delay was designed to frustrate us, It certainly undermined our capacity to fight the various by-elections such as Lupane and Mangwe

The money came amid accusations from the MDC that the government was deliberately withholding the funds just to sabotage their activities. Under the Political Party finance Act, the government is supposed to pay any political party with less than 5% representation in parliament.
