SB Moyo Summoned By Parly Over Embassies
The Foreign affairs Minister has been summoned by parly to explain why the government is keeping embassies that are not bringing any meaningful investments, The Daily News exclusively revealed. MDC Senator for Masvingo Tichinani Matevera has written to General Moyo to disclose the number of foreign missions the country has worldwide as well as how much investment they were bringing into the country through a question and answer session in Parly.
The Senator in his letter said:
The minister must inform the house about the number of foreign embassies that Zimbabwe has worldwide and to give a detailed breakdown of the investments that each one of them has brought to the country during the past two years and also justify the continued existence of embassies that are not bringing any meaningful investments into the country
FeedbackLast year when Mthuli presented his budget said the government was going to shut down some embassies but did not disclose the number of embassies to be chopped off the board. General Moyo once said there was need for embassies to perform to justify why the government shouldn’t close them down.
