ED: Mugabe Family To Have Final Say On Place Of Burial

President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the late former President Robert Mugabe’s family will have the final say on where he is buried, but this will be done in consultation with the government.

President Mnangagwa was speaking at a funeral service at former President Mugabe’s home in Harare. He said:

Government has not issued any definitive statement on the funeral programme and burial of the former President because it was yet to consult the family which has the final say on the matter.

Amai(Grace) you have the full support of the government under me, there is nothing we will do to antagonise your decisions.

President Mnangagwa was expected to hold one-on-one talks later on Thursday with the former President’s wife, Grace on final burial arrangements.

Various reports suggest that the Mugabe family intends to bury the late national hero at Kutama village where he grew up.

Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa has left the Blue Roof, the programme continues with the body of the late founding father, former President Robert Mugabe to be flown to Rufaro Stadium where the nation will bid him farewell today and tomorrow.
