SABC Apologises For Broadcasting Wrong Speech By President Ramaphosa

South Africa’s public broadcaster, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) apologised to President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday after it broadcast an incorrect version of his speech.

A statement released by SABC Group CEO reads as follows:

SABC APOLOGISES TO PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA

Johannesburg – Thursday, 05 September 2019 – In a pre-recorded televised message by President Cyril Ramaphosa to the nation this evening, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), inadvertently broadcast an incorrect version of the President’s speech on SABC News, while the correct version was played across all SABC radio stations.

The public broadcaster wishes to apologise to the President of the Republic and the nation for any embarrassment caused in this unfortunate breach of news production processes.
