Health Services Board & Govt Agree On Doctors' Cushioning Allowances

Doctors in Zimbabwe have ended their most recent strike following a salaries deal with the government.

The doctors, yesterday downed tools demanding a view of their salaries which they said were not in resonance with the state of the economy.

Speaking during an interview with 263Chat, Health Service Board (HSB) chairperson Dr Paulinus Sikhosana said that they were still negotiating with the government on workers salaries. Sikhosana said:

We had an agreement with them as the Health Apex committee on the adjustment on the cost of living. The collective agreement, however, had conditionalities where doctors said they are not satisfied and we have since sent a request to Treasury which has been accepted.

Doctors like other workers across all sectors are saying that their salaries have been immensely and continuously eroded by the soaring inflation.
