ZANU PF Postpones Anti-sanctions Demonstration

The ruling ZANU PF party has postponed a demonstration against sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by Western countries.

The demonstration was initially scheduled for Thursday, 5 September 2019, but will be held next week.

The deferment was necessitated by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s unavailability as he is currently in South Africa to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Africa.

The Herald quotes Zanu-PF secretary of Administration Obert Mpofu confirming that the event has been pushed forward. He said:

We want to make it a national event. The solidarity march will include the Government, civil society, students, the business community (and) all political parties, among others.
