Some Kwekwe Residents Forage Dumpsites For Food

Residents of the small gold mining Midlands city of Kwekwe are reportedly foraging for food items at dumpsites for resale or home consumption.

Councillors have called for a scrutiny of milk processor, Deindairy on how it disposes of its condemned milk products.

Speaking at a full council meeting recently, deputy health director John Bandama called on all businesses to destroy all condemned foodstuffs. He said:

We have been hearing disturbing reports that people have been picking up condemned milk products from Dendairy.

We are calling on corporates to completely destroy all the condemned foodstuffs so that we avoid health-related problems.

Kwekwe City deputy mayor, Shadreck Tobaiwa, said Deindairy should be closely monitored so that condemned milk is disposed of properly. He said:

There is a need to monitor our food processors in the city so that we monitor how they dispose of condemned foodstuffs particularly Dendairy.

We have to know where they are disposing of their condemned products so that do not have a situation where people will pick condemned milk and milk-related products for consumption or resale.
