FULL TEXT: Letter That Reportedly Put Chitungwiza Mayor In Trouble

Chitungwiza Mayor and MDC Councillor, Lovemore Maiko, was on Monday assaulted by suspected ZANU PF youths. Insiders believe that the violence was triggered by a letter which Maiko wrote to Town Clerk seeking clarity on why he has been snubbing council events organised by the mayor. We present the letter below.

REF: ATTENDANCE OF COMMITTEE AND FULL COUNCIL MEETINGS AND ABSENCE AT WORK

I would like to draw your attention to the above matter where you have not been attending both committees and full council meetings for more than 3 full council meetings. In addition, you have not been reporting for duty (work) hence you only report for work periodically. In that regard, may you kindly furnish with details as to why you were not attending committees and full council meetings as well as what you have been doing, where and whether it is beneficial to council. Also in the same vein, furnish on why you report for work periodically.

Lastly, I would like to draw your attention to section 13 of the Urban Council’s Act [Chapter 29:15].
