"People Should Not Allow The MDC Alliance To Use Them" - Home Affairs Minister

Home Affairs Minister, Cain Mathema has said that citizens must not be used by the opposition led by advocate Nelson Chamisa to commit crimes in the name of demonstrations.

He also said that the police will be prepared to react to any form of violence that breaks.

Mathema speaks after the MDC has announced that it will soon embark on national demonstrations after the State recently banned all its protects.

The police served the MDC with prohibition orders arguing that it had gathered evidence to suggest that the protests would be violent. The minister said:

Police will be on high alert to ensure that peace prevails in every part of the country. The constitution allows people to demonstrate but those who will be caught on the wrong side of the law will face the consequences. Zimbabwe is a democratic and peaceful country.

People should not allow the MDC Alliance to use them. The party should follow the constitution, which it took part in writing. They don’t know what they want. They run to the courts on every issue but they still don’t want to listen to the courts.

Pressure has been mounting on the government to address the socio-economic issues that prevalent in Zimbabwe.

The country has a huge power deficit which has greatly affected several companies with some contemplating to suspend business.
