ABDUCTIONS & TORTURE: "ED Recreating Venezuelan Climate Of Fear & Paranoia"

Zimbabwean journalist, Daniel Chigundu has opined that the reported abductions and other human rights violations are president Emmerson Mnangagwa’s way of instilling fear within the general populace.

Chigundu notes that the Venezuelan Chavez created a fear instilling system which is still in subsistence today under the new leader, Maduro.

The journo further claims that the reported abductions were carried out or sanctioned by the state. He further revealed how quickly the State has been “abusing” human rights in broad daylight.

For Chigundu, the abductions and arrests of political enemies (Amos Chibaya, Thabitha Khumalo etc.), theatrical performers (Daves Guzha), labour activists (Obert Masaraure), women rights activists (Farirai Gumbonzvanda) satirical comedians (Samantha Kureya) and civil society members (Tatenda Mombeyarara) are warnings to anyone who would like to challenge Mnangagwa’s government.

Chigundu also made reference to the recently blocked MDC demonstrations to justify his claim that Mnangagwa was not a reformist as he would have wanted the nation to believe when he rose to the throne in 2017.

Perhaps, Mnangagwa read the Nicolo Machiavelli’s “The Prince” which says that it would be better for the Prince or ruler to be feared than to be loved.

This, as Machiavelli said, is because the masses choose to love but cannot choose to fear, they are forced to.
