It's "Time To Make Mnangagwa Accountable For Crimes Against Humanity" - MDC Vice Chair

Opposition Vice-Chairperson, Advocate Job Sikhala has said that it was time president Mnangagwa faces the wrath of International Law over crimes against humanity.

His remarks come after recent reports of abductions and torture of members of the MDC and human rights defenders.

They also come at a time when the government has blocked MDC demonstrations that were slated to begin on the 16th of August.

Speaking to the News Day, Sikhala said:

Now is the time to plait the international law that presses international obligations for crimes against humanity against Mnangagwa. This man has been thriving on the blood of our kith and kin. It is high time to look him right into his eyes and tell him ‘stop spilling blood of our relatives anymore.

Sikhala also made reference to January violent demonstrations, August 1, 2018, shootings and the Matebeleland massacres of the 1980s dubbed Gukurahundi to demonstrate that the government is not respecting human rights.

The Zengeza West legislator also said that it was now beyond any reasonable doubt, even to those who doubted, that Mnangagwa was not different from former president Robert Mugabe.

He also said that Mnangagwa has been Mugabe’s lieutenant hence implicated in all crimes against humanity since the aftermath of independence.
