Dean Smith, Aston Villa coach has said that former Club Brugge defensive midfielder, Marvelous Nakamba was still working on his fitness.
His remarks come when Aston Villa fans have expressed concern over the absence of the 25-year-old Zimbabwean international in Villa’s two opening games.
Villa lost both of them to Tottenham Hotspurs and Bournemouth.
Speaking on Nakamba after the Bournemouth game which they lost with two goals to one, Smith said:
He’s done extra work in training on Saturday and he’s still a little bit off it. He played one game in the Africa Cup of Nations and got injured and hasn’t done an awful lot of training afterwards so when he came to us we’ve been working on his fitness.
He also said that he has so far been impressed by the performances of Nakamba’s teammate, Wesley Moraes.
